Information in this document applies to any platform.

Dual Fibre Port PUA2 Card:
The original logic card that supplied a Fibre Channel interface for the SL3000 was the MPU2 card. An updated Fibre Channel interface card is supported at 3.0 and will start shipping with new builds 7/2011 for single port operations by default.

- Dual Port FC operations must be hardware activated by a hardware activation key.
- The original gen_1 PUA card has an obsolete Qlogic 2312 chip. The PUA2 has an updated Qlogic 2532 chip.

PUA2 CB_ 003-5479-02
- Part Number 418660302.
- Marketing Part Number XSL3000K-2FCCARD & SL3000-2FCCARD-Z.
- The PUA2 card supports two 1G/2G/4G/8G Fibre Channel interfaces.
- The default operation is single port (Port 1 active); a connection to Port 2 in this configuration will result in a unit check/attention condition.
- The minimum code version required to activate dual port operation is 3.00.
- Once both ports are activated, Ports 1 and 2 can be connected to the same host or connected to two different hosts.
- The ports operate concurrently and each port always responds on the same input port.
- In case of a failure on one port, switching to the other port is accomplished by host software; there is no automatic failover.

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Oracle/Storagetek SL3000 Library Knowledge

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

TIME ESTIMATE: 120 minutes

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Host connectivity has been lost

CONFIRM THE FAULT BY CHECKING: Check for light on the PUA2 cable coming out of the SFP

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : The library needs to be offline with either ACSLS or HSC.  The paths from the host to the library need to be offline

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Removal Procedure:

- All circuit cards within the electronics module assembly are ESD sensitive.. Follow proper ESD procedures.
- Turn the two thumbscrews to remove the cover from the ECM module if present.
- Detach the Fibre Channel cables from the card.
- Power off the ECM via the ECM circuit breakers.
- Using a small Phillips screwdriver, loosen the captive screw within the card's release levers.
- Press the red button on the release lever and remove the card.
- Place the card in an EDS-protective wrapper.

Installation Procedure:

- Remove the replacement card from the EDS-protective wrapper
- Insert the card into the slot.
- Use the levers to fully insert the card.
- Use the screwdriver to tighten the captive screws within the card's release levers.
- Attach the Fibre Channel cables to the card.
- Power on the ECM card cage.
- Verify that the green LED is on

- Replace the ECM cover if present.
- Ask the operators to bring the library's paths online to the system.
- Ask the operators to bring the library online to HSC/ACSLS.
