Goal

Two ES1-24 switches were configured with port-channels, vlans and Spanning-Tree mode MST.
How can we migrate such existing configuration to Spanning-Tree mode PVRST ?

Solution

The switch was already configured for VLANs and spanning tree before switching to PVRST.

In this case switching to PVRST may conflict with features from an existing configuration saved to the underlying hardware before.

To avoid this the ES1-24 Firmware Release notes propose :

When using the PVRST+ feature, create the entire configuration from scratch to avoid possible conflicts

So in the next maintainance window,
we can erase the config of one switch, re-apply the customized config and repeat on the other switch:

On Switch A:

# show running-config
(copy and paste the configuration in a text file on your computer for later reference)

# copy flash:switch.conf flash:oldswitch.conf
(save a copy of the old config)

# erase startup-config
# exit
-> cd /SYS
-> reset
(reset the switch so SEFOS starts with factory defaults)

(when the switch is back, login to SEFOS again)
# spanning-tree mode pvrst

Then apply your configuration again manually.

# sh run
(check if the config looks OK)

# copy run start

Re-configure the switch with the commands you used when configuring the switch before.
You can use the former show run text output as reference, but you can not directly copy and paste.

Then repeat on switch B .
