Oracle FS1-2 Flash Storage System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This document describes how to preserve the host-to-LUN mappings when upgrading or re-installing FS Path Manager (FSPM). Note that there is a different procedure for initial installation. This document only applies to upgrading or re-installing FSPM.

Solution

Ensure that the Oracle FS Path Manager status in the Oracle FS System Manager GUI, SAN tab -> Storage -> Hosts shows "Communicating" for the SAN host where FSPM will be upgraded or re-installed.

Install the new version of FSPM (or the same version if re-installing).  It is not necessary to un-install the old version first.

The SAN host definition will remain intact, and the host-to-LUN mappings will not be affected.

If the Oracle FS Path Manager status in the Oracle FS System Manager GUI, SAN tab -> Storage -> Hosts shows any status other than "Communicating" for the SAN host where FSPM will be upgraded or re-installed, then follow the instructions in the FS Path Manager Install Guide to delete the SAN host before starting the upgrade / re-install.
