Goal

Replacement of DE3-24C Disk Chassis (Compliance model SE44U) or DE3-24P Disk Chassis (Compliance Model SE42U)

 

Scope: 

For Standalone JBODS and those attached to ZFS ZS4-4, ZS5-2 and ZS5-4 ( cluster included )

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?

Training and experience with Oracle DE3-24C / DE3-24P JBOD . This is a Field Replaceable unit, to be performed by a trained Service Personnel.

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The disk center-plane in the DE3-24P/C tray has been determined faulty and needs to be replaced.
This require the whole tray chassis to be replaced as the center-plane is not considered to be field-replaceable.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:

This Procedure will require the system to be down .

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Bring down and power off the Mini Cluster
Power off the JBOD using the power switch on the back of the JBOD.
Swap JBOD chassis and re-cable, taking care to check all wiring and making sure all components go in to the same positions in the new chassis.

Regulatory Requirement Below:

Verify the Power Supply to be installed in the replacement chassis FRU is mfgr Bel Fuse,P/N GFE580-SBB-5125 (May be followed by suffixes).

The Power supplies listed in the FE handbook meet this requirement.


Label cables and disks before removal --- location of hardware and cables is important when powered back on
Sequence to Power on JBOD and then the Mini Cluster .
Power up JBODs first.
Use the ILOM/SP to check the serial number before starting MIni Cluster.
**** Perform the Serial Number recovery if required . *****
Start the Mini Cluster .
Verify that the Mini cluster has access to the JBOD and all components are optimal .

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:

Use the Mini cluster BUI to confirm success
