DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: Familiarity of the DE3-24C / DE3-24P Disk JBOD
TIME ESTIMATE: 30 Minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
What: IOM requires replacement.
Where: Chassis S/N: Location: (Should be inserted by TSC)
Why: An IOM module has been determined as failed and needs to be replaced.
(Insert additional information if required)

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
System can be online if the path to the partner IOM module is optimal .

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

1. The DE3-24C and the DE3-24P use the same IOM module .

2 The IOM boards are hot-swappable if optimal and multi-pathed. If performing online
VERIFY THAT THE ALTERNATE PATH IS OPTIMAL .

3. Verify the IOM module to the replaced.
* Physically check the IOM that requires replacement. It should have an amber or a blue LED.
IOM LED's
- IOM Service Action Allowed ( Blue)
- IOM Fault (Amber)
- IOM OK (Green)

Verify the faulted module is the same as the one identified in the SR. If not, check if the other IOM on the JBOD is online.

4. Remove the IOM module using the Insert/Eject lever in the center of the IOM Board.
Note: You may not be able to fully remove the IOM from the SLot until you remove the
cables in step 5.

5. Record the location of the cables connected to the IOM and remove them from the old IOM

6. Attach the cables to the new IOM before fully inserting .

7. Fully Insert the new IOM module using the insert/Eject Lever .
Wait approximately 60 seconds for the IOM board to complete its boot process, at which time the Power LED should be
solid green and the IOM locate LED should be off.
