Applies to:

Oracle FS1-2 Flash Storage System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Pillar Axiom Replication Engine (MaxRep) - Version 3.0 to 3.0 [Release 3.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This document provides details and the requirements on how to:

- Configure the MaxRep Call-Home Log collection process when used with the Oracle Flash Storage System.

- Configure the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) trap of the Oracle MaxRep Replication Engine to send software fault notices to the Call-Home server.

- Configure the Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) for the Oracle MaxRep Replication Engine to send hardware fault notices to the Call-Home server.

Solution

Background

Call-Home is a notification process that will automatically send FS1-2 System Logs to a secure Oracle server for analysis if a problem is detected.

NOTE: No customer data is collected in System Logs or transmitted to Oracle.

For full functionality it is a requirement to configure SNMP for Call-Home and the ILOM Network

The difference is that for Call-Home it is needed to configure SNMP traps for errors that may occur in the MaxRep Software, and for ILOM Network it is needed to configure SNMP traps for errors that may occur on the physical hardware platform.

Setup

  1. Setting up the Software traps is defined in the “Configure SNMP for Call-Home” document and those traps will be sent to the Oracle Flash Storage System via the MaxRep Mgmt Ethernet port. Review the Oracle MaxRep for SAN User’s Guide Release 3.0 Configure SNMP for Call-Home
  2. The Hardware traps are configured using the “Configure ILOM Network” document and those traps will be sent to the Oracle Flash Storage via the ILOM port on the back of the MaxRep. Review the Oracle MaxRep for SAN User’s Guide Release 3.0 Configure ILOM Network
  3. Setting up a MaxRep Cluster (HA). The Software traps need only to be configured once (via the “user administration” tab as defined in the document referenced above). The ILOM traps should be configured for every MaxRep regardless of whether they are a Control Service or Process Service.
