FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

* Please gather and note down specific PCI replacement procedure for the model of the ZFS Storage you are working on before powering off head, or use the 2nd cluster node's "Online help" while this node is powered off.

* Please see "References section" at the bottom of this document for online help links so an offline copy can be saved of the relevant procedure.

* The appliance head must be powered off for this task. The customer may have shut the node down but power may still be applied so check that it is safe to power off.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Remove the Internal HBA card from PCIe slot 2 slot and disconnect cables attached to it.

  1.  Locate the SAS HBA card in PCIe slot 2.
  2.  If necessary, make a note of where the PCIe cards are installed.
  3.  Unplug all data cables from the PCIe card. Note the location of all cables for reinstallation later.
  4.  To disengage the PCIe card retaining bar, push down on the bar, move it away from the server back wall, and lift it to an upright position.
  5.  Carefully remove the PCIe card from the PCIe card slot.

Install the HBA PCIe Card.

  1.  To install the replacement card, connect the cables to the replacement HBA card and install the replacement card in PCIe slot 2.
  2.  Return the server to operation
  3.  Install the top cover.
  4.  Return the server to the normal rack position.
  5.  Reconnect all power cords to the server power supplies and power on the server.
  6.  If required, manually clear the PCIe card fault using Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM).

For instructions on clearing server faults, refer to the Oracle ILOM User's Guide for System Monitoring and Diagnostics at the following link:  https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37444_01/html/E37447/z4000a12165586.html#scrolltoc

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Verify access to the new PCI card and verify the server will boot and has access to the disks.

PARTS NOTE:
