Solution DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS Note - Until Further notice this S7 Part must be submitted through the CPAS process. This CRU will require a FE to replace and perform the CPAS process on this part until further notice. Non-Oracle badged Partners need to work with Oracle-badged employees to initiate a CPAS process. Please contact an Oracle Support Engineer to get more details.
See this link for more information about the CPAS process: https://stbeehive.oracle.com/teamcollab/overview/CPAS Details: Mandatory NCAT/CPAS for Specific SPARC S7 Series Server FRU's (Doc ID 2157777.1) DAMAGE ALERT: Perform a visual inspection of the replacement part to make sure that there are no damaged components, connectors, bent pins, damaged packages during shipping, etc). If the part is damaged, don't install it into the system, order a new part. Handle with caution and package carefully the return part to avoid any damages during shipping.
Note - This is a hot service procedure that can be performed by Customers while the server is running.
Note - The server's redundant power supplies support concurrent maintenance, which enables you to remove and replace a power supply without shutting down the server, provided that the other power supply is online and working.
Note - If a power supply fails and you do not have a replacement available, leave the failed power supply installed to ensure proper airflow in the server.
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?: Confirm the Power Supply failure and it's location 1. Confirm which Power Supply is to be replaced. When looking at the server from the rear PS0 is to the left and PS1 is to the right. Remove Power Supply 1. Gain access to the rear of the server where the faulty power supply is located. 2. If the cable management arm (CMA) is installed, disconnect both CMA left-side connectors and move the CMA out of the way. Caution - When disconnecting the CMA left-side connectors, use your arm to support the CMA so that it does not hang down under it's own weight and stress the right-sdie connectors; otherwise, the CMA might be damaged. You must continue to support the CMA until you have reconnected both of the left-side connectors.
3. Disconnect the power cord from the failed power supply. 4. Grasp the power supply handle and push the power supply latch to the left. 5. Pull the power supply out of the chassis and set it aside on an antistatic mat. Caution - Whenever you remove a power supply, you should immediately replace it with another power supply; otherwise, the server might overheat due to improper airflow.
Caution - If you will not be replacing the power supply immediately, install a power supply filler panel before returning power to the server.
Insert Replacement Power Supply 1. Remove the replacement power supply from its packaging and place it on an antistatic mat. 2. Align the power supply with the empty power supply slot. 3. Slide the power supply into the bay until it is fully seated. (an audible click will be heard when it is fully seated) 4. Reconnect the power cord to the power supply. 5. Verify that the amber LED on the replaced power supply and the Service Required LEDs on the front and rear of the chassis are not lit. 6. Return the Server to operation
1. Log into ILOM to confirm if power supply status is working properly. Example: -> show /SYS/PS0
/SYS/PS0 Properties: Commands: -> 2. Check ILOM event log to see if any error related power. -> show /SP/faultmgmt
-> show /SP/logs/event/list
