Goal

T10000 drives come with the configurable Standard Label Protection feature described in the following document: 9x40/T10000 - Standard Label Protect Feature (Doc ID 1478119.1)

Drives may be reporting invalid Vol ID through FSC 33F0:

FSC: 33F0 HS_FSC_INVALID_VOLID
MIM Code: NONE
FRU: STATUS ONLY CONF: 100%
Summary: |INVALID UCODE |RETURN CODE | *** |
Field Text: Failed check for valid Vol-Id at block 0. This is a Perm, and is a configurable option. Enable this check using the Label Protection menu option on the front panel.

If this is causing issues with using media, especially if it is enabled only on some drive, the Standard Label protection feature may be turned off or on using the Virtual Operator Panel (VOP) software.

Solution

To turn off Standard Label Protection:

1. Log into the drive with VOP.
2. Set the drive offline (Drive Operations → Set Offline)
3. Go to Configure → Drive Data...
4. Next to "Standard Label protect" select "No", make sure the checkbox under "Update" is selected and click "Commit"
5. Drive will reboot. When it does, it will be online.
