Note: A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
Customer should perform an orderly and graceful shutdown of applications and OS to get the OpenBoot PROM prompt. Then power off the server and remove the AC power cords from the system. Remove System Battery Note - The system battery is located on the motherboard between CMP1 DIMMs and the side of the chassis next to the blue memory remind button.
1. Prepare the server for service. a. Power off the server and disconnect the power cords from the power supplies. Caution - Components inside the chassis might be hot. Use caution when servicing components inside the chassis.
2. Open fan door and remove server top cover: a. Open the fan door by sliding the fan door latches forward and swinging the door up to the open position. 3. Remove clear plastic air duct assembly: a. Press the new battery into the battery holder with the positive side (+) facing away from the metal tab that holds it in place. 2. Take the clear plastic air duct assembly and place it over the top of the CPU's and DIMMs allowing the DIMMs to protrude through the open slots and the assembly to fit nicely between the chassis walls, power supply metal casing and mid-wall. 3. Install the server top cover and close the fan door: a. Close the fan door by swinging the door down to the closed position and hearing the latches latch. 4. Return the Server to operation. a. 5. If the SP is not configured to use NTP, you must reset the Oracle ILOM clock using the Oracle ILOM CLI or the web interface. For instructions, see below or the Oracle ILOM documentation. 6. Use the ILOM clock command to set the day and time. -> set /SP/clock datetime=061716192010
-> show /SP/clock /SP/clock
-> show /SYS/MB/BAT
/SYS/MB/BAT Targets: Properties: type = Battery ipmi_name = MB/BAT fault_state = OK clear_fault_action = (none) Commands: cd set show -> 2. Power on server. Verify that the Power/OK indicator led lights steady on.
