Solution
Connect To The Drive Using VOP
Establish a network connection to the tape drive.
If you are on location with the drive connect an Ethernet cable between your laptop and the drive. Set up your laptop for an IP address that is on the same subnet as your drive. (example: 10.0.0.1 for the drive and 10.0.0.2 for the laptop)
If you are remote then VPN in to the corporate network and verify that you can access the drive by pinging it. (open a Command Prompt window and type: ping ip_address)
Open the Standalone VOP application.
Windows
Go to Start > All Programs > Multi Drive VOP CSE > T10000 9840D VOP
Solaris
Linux
In the Authentication Dialog window enter an IP address of the tape drive and click Connect or select Cancel to open the application.
Connect to the drive. Select File > Connect To Drive and enter the IP address of the drive.
