Goal

Is it supported to combine multiple 10GbE ports into a single trunk using LACP?

Solution

This is supported starting with the BDA V4.5.0 Base Image. The BDA Base Image V4.5.0 does support LACP, but you need to first apply the bda rpm patch to bda-4.5.0-7. The rpm can be found at: 23241894. Applying the rpm at 23241894 ensures you have the latest fixes. On the BDA v4.10.0 Base Image it is necessary to apply the bda-4.10.0-3 (or higher) rpm patch first. The bda-4.10.0-3 rpm can be found in patch 27441706.

On Base Image versions less than V4.5 the BDA network configuration scripts do not support LACP currently. You should configure your switches to not use LACP. On these Base Image versions because of the way Hadoop works, nearly the same benefit can be obtained by using several 10GbE ports and distributing servers among available ports.
