Goal

On : E5-MS 46.0 version, E5-MS (Implementation)

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
Oracle Consulting :: E5MS :: Increase Of Eagle UAM/UIM Logs Collection in E5MS

In E5MS system UAM from Eagle are collected under path /Tekelec/WebNMS/Log/alert_audit.txt.
Here max of 10 file are stored where the UAM are collected for ALL Eagles which are connected to the E5MS.

In case of Large systems, the alert_audit.txt to alert_audit.txt.10 are able to collect logs for only 3 day and it even drops to 1 day if the Eagle is generating large number of alarm.

Customer requires that the product should able to store the UAM logs for a minimum of 7 days.

How to increase the storage capacity of logs ,thus to have last 7 days UAM & UIM alarm .

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
alert logs are kept for at least 7 days.

STEPS
-----------------------
alert_audit files get over written for large systems as quickly as in a single day.

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
No business impact. Due to this issue, users cannot see log file for upto 7 days.

Solution

The E5MS has been designed to get these logs via GUI and there is enough of that information available. If these logs are required; they can also be collected directly via EAGLE.

The logs in path /Tekelec/WebNMS/Log/alert_audit.txt are to be used by E5MS TAC team. If logs are collected quickly during/after an issue; enough information should be available. Else; a Debugging mode can be turned ON. Again; this does not qualify for increasing the E5MS internal log capacity.

The system is working as designed. There is no loss of functionality due to this. If customer requires this collection period to be increased or more number of logs to be saved; then it should be a request for Enhancement via Sales/Accounts team.
