Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The purpose of this document is to address the following error during the boot sequence of a Brocade 300 switch.

fabsys device open: No such device or address

This error message indicates that the Fabric OS is corrupt.

Solution

The solution is to replace the switch.

Please open a Service Request against the Serial Number of the switch to arrange replacement.

Please note, in the event the customer has purchased additional licenses against the failed switch they will have to be transferred to the replacement switch.

Please also note when a switch is replaced then clearly the serial number will change.
It is the responsibility of the Field Engineer to ensure the contracts database is updated accordingly.
