Applies to:

Oracle Communications EAGLE (Hardware) - Version EAGLE 3x.x and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The backup link between STP01 and STP02 (Sigtran linkset) is taking traffic for about 6 months
Usually this link will take traffic only in case a main destination becomes prohibited.
We checked our configuration and we did not find any destinations that are unavailable, so that this link would take traffic.
Can you please help us with an investigation regarding this case?

Solution

STP01 is receiving a few traffic from the CCS platform with DPC=STP02.
Therefore, Eagle STP01 routes the traffic to the mated STP02.
The link is the backup route between both mated Eagles, that should normally not be used.
The issue is that the CCS platform does not send the traffic directly to the Eagle STP02 but is routing it through the other Eagle STP01. That is not a normal behavior.
Routing rules have to be changed on the CCS platform so that the traffic is directly routed to the concerned Eagle.
