Goal

How to gracefully shutdown the Oracle NSP server (For example in case of battery replacement)?

Solution

For a safe and graceful shutdown of the NSP Oracle server and the NSP services, follow the below procedure:

  1. Stop the nspservice service. Connect to Weblogic1 server as root user and run the following command:
    #service nspservice stop
  2. Stop the Oracle service. Connect to the NSP Oracle server as root user and run the following command:
    # service dbora stop
  3. Shutdown the Oracle server. As root user on the Oracle server, run the following command:
    # init 0
  4. Do the HW action (Battery replacement...)
  5. Once HW action is done, reboot the server.
  6. Restart the nspservice service. Connect to Weblogic1 server as root user and run the following command:
    #service nspservice start
In case of 1 box NSP, step 6 is not needed as the nspservice service will be automatically started during the server boot sequence.
