Applies to:

Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version E5-MS 46.2 to E5-MS 46.2 [Release E5-MS 46.0]
Tekelec

Goal

Upgrade from E5-MS 45.0.1 to 46.0.1 on pair with failover
Problem: Upgrade of secondary server failed taking DB access after rpm installation.
Error messages:
Invalid hibernate.cfg.xml file passed for initialization /var/upgrade/Backup_450.33.0/classes/hbnlib/hibernate.cfg.xml
Enter password:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
Conclusions:
DB access issue is caused by problem with JAVA_HOME variable. Upgrade script seems to use Java application for initializing new DB. Installing a separate copy of Java to the system and setting the JAVA_HOME variable via /etc/profile.d script resolved the issue.
Pre-upgrade backup fails due to faulty behavior of script Backup.sh. the script seems to read host information from /Tekelec/WebNMS/classes/hbnlib/hibernate.cfg.xml and to access primary server for backup instead of secondary server.

Solution

Bug Created.
BUG 21783617 - 46.2 upgrade - Pre-upgrade backup fails on secondary system when primary offline

The bug has been addressed with a process in the upgrade guide.

The next release (46.3), CoE is trying to have the software automatically update the file for the backup.
