Applies to:

Oracle Communications EAGLE (Software) - Version EAGLE 44.0.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The customer has only one EPAP. It is running version 13, which is EOL and it has a faulty hard disk. They don't use the services of the EPAP.
The Eagle is scheduled to for a SW Upgrade from R44 to R45 and the customer wants to know if it is okay to move forward even with the EPAP context.

Solution

While you do not use the EPAP (the DB=1), all of the EPAP features are ON. This means the SCCP cards will try to reload the RTDB from the EPAP during the upgrade, which is a concern. We can perform a few test to confirm everything will be OK.

  Feature Name Partnum   Status Quantity
  ...
  GPORT        893017201 on     ----
  INP          893017901 on     ----

Test 1: The ping from the SCCP cards 1313 to the EPAP A works fine and that is good

Test 2 In addition, we will check deeper by rebooting one of your SCCP cards to see if it reloads properly. Normally it should be quick as the DB=1.
You can use the card which is running the lower load (for this case use card 3215): init-card:loc=3215. The SCCP card reloaded properly and it took only 6 minutes, which is very positive.

Based on this information, there does not appear to be anything stopping the Eagle upgrade.
