Goal

IP interface down alarm intermittently trigger for the SCCP cards 2217 port B and 3117 port B.

Solution

DSM cards: IP connection unavailable means that physical layer between DSM card and EPAPs is not up. That means either:
1. DSM card port is bad
2. Cable between Card and Switch/hub is faulty
3. Port on switch/hub is faulty
4. Whole switch/hub is faulty (in that case; all DSM cards will have alarm; not on one or two)
5. There is some issue at EPAP end (in that case; most/all DSM cards will have alarm)

For alarm on Port B of a DSM card:
1. Check the B port cable connected to Hub (it is connected to Hub 3 or Hub 4)
2. Remove and connect the cable again and check if alarm disappears, this may have been a bad connection.
3. If alarm remains, remove the cable from the port and connect it to any other empty port. If the alarm goes away, the port is faulty
4. If the alarm remains, please provide output of following command in a Service Request for further investigation:
pass:cmd="arp -a":loc=<location of DSM card with problem>
