Customer has SL3000 with 700 slots enabled. They want to increase the capacity by 200 slots at least. They have the cartridges ready to be put in library but due to the current license they can't do this. They will purchase the correct license but at the moment they need license (may be temporary) to install the cartridges. What is the best way to enable the slots while they go through the sales cycle?

Goal

Temporary license required for additional slots.

Solution

The customer can go to the Oracle e-delivery site and download the 200 slot license for the SL3000. The Terms and Conditions allow a 30 day use, which should enable them to process the purchase request, whilst enabling the slots to be available now.

The slot license is provided on a trust basis as per the terms and conditions on the e-delivery site. It will not expire at the end of 30 days and will still enable access to the slots. As long as your customer intends to buy the additional slots there should be no issues.
