Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

"8-Port 12Gbps SAS-3 RAID HBA (Aspen-INT)" can be configured for RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60. The following RAID configuration utilities are available for the HBA:

1) MegaRAID Storage Manager Software – A graphical user interface from which you can create RAID volumes for the HBA.
Note: The MegaRAID Storage Manager software is not supported with the Oracle Solaris OS.

2) StorCLI Utility – A command-line utility from which you can create RAID volumes for the HBA.

These utilities, and their associated documentation, are available for download at the Oracle designated web site: https://www.broadcom.com/support/oem/oracle/

Solution

Note: This document explains how to install StorCLI Tools only. For MegaRAID GUI SW, Please refer to "Chapter 7: MegaRAID Storage Manager Overview and Installation" of Doc, 12Gb/s MegaRAID® SAS Software" from Avago website.

1. How to download the RAID Configuration Utilities

      - Go to Web site, https://www.broadcom.com/support/oem/oracle/
        -> Click "SAS 12Gb/s HBA Support"
        -> Click "Oracle Storage 12 Gb/s SAS PCIe RAID HBA, Internal"
        -> choose, and click a utility per supported OS.

2. How to install the RAID Configuration Utilities

    1) Installing the StorCLI Tool on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
         a. Copy the binary file from the CD or from the company website.
         b. Place the binary file in the directory from which you want to run the Storage Command Line Interface, and run the tool.
          NOTE: The StorCLI tool must be run with the administrator privileges.

    2) Installing the StorCLI Tool on Linux Operating Systems
        To install the StorCLI tool on Linux operating systems, perform the following steps:
        a. Unzip the StorCLI tool package.
        b. To install the StorCLI RPM feature, run the rpm -ivh <StorCLI-x.xx-x.noarch.rpm> command.
        c. To upgrade the StorCLI RPM feature, run the rpm -Uvh <StorCLI-x.xx-x.noarch.rpm> command.

    3) Installing the StorCLI Tool on VMware Operating Systems
       To install the StorCLI tool on VMware operating systems, run the following from the command line:
          $ esxcli software vib install –v=<path-to-vib-package>
       Example:
          $ esxcli software vib install -v=/vmfs/volumes/datastore1/StorCliMN/vmware-esx-StorCli-1.01.04.vib

   4) Installing the StorCLI Tool on Solaris Operating Systems
      To install the StorCLI tool on Solaris operating systems, run the following command:
        # pkgadd –d Storcli.pkg
