Information in this document applies to any platform.

Several sites have reported problems attempting to install or replace the HBZ module in the field that controls the Cap, Elevators, and Service Safety Doors in the SL8500.
Most problems have been isolated to the mating connectors not being seated properly in manufacturing or pushed pins.

Goal

HBZ Module Installation and Replacements on SL8500.

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?:No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure
- TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 2
REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The HBZ Module has been determined defective and requires replacement.
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: If there is only one HBZ module present, the library must be placed offline.  If necessary, ask the operator to place the library offline to the Host/ACSLS.
- WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:

HBZ Module (Elevator and CAP Controller): Removal
Note – If there is only one HBZ module present, the library must be placed offline.
1. If necessary, ask the operator to place the library offline to the Host/ACSLS.
2. Remove the center façade (see “Removing the Two-Piece Façade” on page 42 for a two piece, or “Removing the Single Piece Façade” on page 45 for a one piece).
3. Disconnect both Ethernet cables (1) shown in FIGURE 1-165 on page 160 from the module.
Note – Label Ethernet cable connectors before disconnecting.

4. Pull out on the module retaining pin (2) shown in FIGURE 1-165, then rotate it 90 degrees to lock it in the recessed position.
5. Lift the module straight up, then out to remove it from the mounting.

HBZ Module (Elevator and CAP Controller: Replacement
1. Make sure the replacement HBZ module retaining pin is in the recessed position.  Otherwise, pull it out, then rotate it 90 degrees to lock.
2. Position the replacement module into the mounting guides, then push it straight down to seat the module connectors.
3. Rotate the retaining pin 90 degrees to release it into the extended position.
4. Pull up on the module to make sure it is secured.
5. Connect Ethernet cables to the appropriate jacks.
Caution – Possible equipment damage:
If keypad Wait LEDs are flashing, DO NOT open library front doors.
6. Observe Wait LEDs on the keypad after Ethernet cables are connected. If Wait LEDs are flashing, code is being downloaded to the replaced HBZ module.
Note – When Wait LEDs stop flashing, or if Wait LEDs do not flash, proceed with the next step.
7. Perform “HBZ Module Verification” on page 281.
8. Re-install both library center section façades.
9. If the library is offline, ask the operator to place it back online to the Host/ACSLS.

NOTES:

HBZ Module:
The HBZ module has 3 “Floating Connectors” that mate with the connectors in the library. It is a blind mate that is not easily viewed while installing the HBZ module. These connectors P535, P536, and P537 should float within the cutout of the module. If you apply pressure on the connectors they should not become recessed within the HBZ module housing. Verify they are seated properly and the latching tabs are not broken.

Library CIM Connectors:
The three connectors in the CIM per HBZ module; J535, J536, and J537(HBZ1 Side_A) and J535R, J536R, J537R(HBZ2 Side_B) are stationary and held into place with Tabs on both sides of the connectors. Verify the connectors are held firmly in place as noted below and the plastic tabs are not broken.

Pushed Pins:
To verify there are no pushed pins in the CIM connectors remove the face plate below the HBZ module and verify no pins in the connector are recessed while installing the HBZ module.
Refer to the attached document for pictures and further information.

- WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:
