GoalDefine the process to force a tape drive dump. SolutionForce A Drive DumpA dump can be forced at any time to the tape drive. It is best if the drive is unloaded, and offline before you force a dump. Once the dump is initiated it will take a few minutes for the drive to collect the dump . after the drive collects the dump it will IPL and come back online. This process can take 5 to 10 minutes. A dump can be forced on a T10000 tape drive dump using one of these 3 methods:
A dump can be forced on a 9x40 tape drive dump using one of these 2 methods: 1. Connect to the drive using VOP. Select Drive Operations>Drive Offline then select Drive Operations>Force Dump. You will see messages displayed on the VOP screen and the drive will disconnect form VOP. It will re-connect to VOP after it completes the IPL process. Retrieve The Drive DumpIn order to retrieve the drive dump you will need to connect to the drive using VOP. Once connected select Retrieve>Drive Dump. It will ask you to navigate to a location of your choice on your hard drive and give the dump a file name. Click Ok when you are done and the dump will be copied over to your machine as the specified location.
