Goal

In order to initiate a purchase of backup tape cartridges and cleaning tapes for the SL150 library, We need to know the makes and models of backup and cleaning tapes compatible with this library.

HP LTO5:

HP recommends HP LTO Ultrium cartridges as follows:
• LTO Ultrium 5 3000 GB RW for multiple reading and writing.
• LTO Ultrium 5 3000 GB WORM cartridges. WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many) cartridges guard against accidental or malicious alteration of data on the tape cartridge.
You can append data to a WORM data cartridge to use the full capacity but not erase or overwrite existing data. WORM data cartridges have a distinctive, two-tone cartridge color.

Cleaning Cartridge :
It is essential to use only LTO Ultrium Universal cleaning cartridges C7978A (Orange) with HP LTO Ultrium tape drives as other format cleaning cartridges will not load and run. Use of HP cleaning media will ensure your tape drive is fully protected. Do not use swabs or other means of cleaning the heads.

Note:  Unlike the other previous LTO drive generations the IBM LTO8 drives do not support reading tapes that are 2 generations back.  So the IBM LTO8 drives don't support LTO6 media being used in the drive.
