Acme Packet 1100 - Version E-Cz7.2.0 to E-Cz7.3.0 [Release E-Cz7.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How to configure Oracle APKT 1100 for HA & Management.

Solution

Oracle APKT 1100 is a different platform where we have only one port (Net Mgmt) which is used for HA and management purpose.

The configuration is bit different than other HA platform.

Boot parameters of Primary AP1100 – note they refer to the wancom0 as usual, used for management in the untagged VLAN.

Linux (Acme Packet 1100) version 3.4.86-1-cov
Kernel: Linux x86_64 SMP #2
Made on PREEMPT Tue Dec 2 20:35:04 EST 2014
Boot line:  bf=/boot/nnECZ720p2.64.bz tn=BA-SBC01 cn=COM2 ip=10.200.8.12 nm=255.255.255.0 gw=10.200.8.1 u=vxftp pw=vxftp 6g=10.10.10.1

In the config, pay special attention to this:

The wancom0 network-interface and the non-zero VLAN used for HA: VLAN ID 777 in this case

network-interface
        name                                    wancom0
        sub-port-id                             777
        pri-utility-addr                        169.254.1.1
        sec-utility-addr                        169.254.1.2
        netmask                                 255.255.255.252

The wancom0 phy-interface:

phy-interface
        name                                    wancom0
        duplex-mode
        speed

The redundancy-config, referring to wancom0:777

redundancy-config
        peer
                name                                    BA-SBC01
                type                                    Primary
                destination
                        address                                 169.254.1.1:9090
                        network-interface                       wancom0:777
        peer
                name                                    BA-SBC02
                type                                    Secondary
                destination
                        address                                 169.254.1.2:9090
                        network-interface                       wancom0:777

Layer 2 Switch Configuration:

1. Configure the switch port connected to the SBC's Net Mgmt port as a Trunk Port.
2. Cisco Trunk port should be defined with the Native VLAN (i.e. 802.1Q PVID) as the management subnet VLAN Meaning all untagged frames will be tagged with the same PVID.
3. Allow both the VLANs on the Trunk Port.
