Goal
How do you remove a cartridge from the library if the cartridge is in the system cell?
How do you eject a cartridge that was left in the system cell of an SL8500 or SL3000 library?
Solution
1. Make sure that the CAP is not in automatic mode.
ACSSA> query cap all
A CAP in automatic mode reserves the CAP to ACSLS.
To remove the CAP reservation of ACSLS on the CAP:
ACSSA> set cap mode manual
2. To verify if the CAP Reserver has been changed to None ( from "Hli0" ):
SLCconsole -> Tools -> Library Details -> CAP details -> CAP
3. Move the tape that is in a system cell to the CAP.
SLConsole --> Tools -> Diagnostics -> RcvrMove (tab)
Note: The RcvrMove operation allows more than one tape to be moved to the CAP
4. Remove the tapes from the CAP by following these steps:
a) On the library front panel, press the CAP unlock button.
b) If the CAP is not unlocking, unlock the CAP from the SLConsole:
SLConsole -> Tools -> Diagnostics -> CAP Folder -> CAP -> Access (tab) : Set "Locked" to "False".
c) Open the CAP door
d) Take the tape out
e) Close the CAP door
5. Set the CAP mode back to "automatic":
ACSSA> set cap mode auto <capid>
6. If needed, put the tape(s) back into the library. Follow these steps:
a) Verify if the tapes' volume records are still in the ACSLS database:
ACSSA> query vol <volid>
Note: the volume may be "absent", "missing" or it may no longer be in the database
b) If the volume records are still in the ACSLS database, delete the volume records
before entering the tapes back into the library:
$ del_vol -d <volid>
c) Open the CAP door and put the tapes in the CAP
d) Close the CAP
7. Verify if the ACSLS database has been updated:
ACSSA> query vol <volid>
