Identify if LOD or HBD card is installed in drive tray

Solution

SL8500/SL3000 LOD and HBD Card verification
To determine the card type of the HBD card or the Field Programmable Array (FPGA) version of LOD card, use StorageTek Library Console (SLC) as follow:

Log on to SLC
Click Tools, than click System Details, than click Drive, then click Drive Tray, and finally
click Drive Tray FPGAVersion.

The card type or FPGA version will be returned for the selected drive:
    -    HBD-17 - card type
    -    LOD-53 - FPGA version

UPDATE: 12/17/2015
or you will need to have L2 access to the log snapshot files in SPLAT to look at hbc_complete.txt file and look at the available trace information.

1. Set the Address Filter to the drive (in this case 1.1.3.1.3
2. enter LOD or HBD into the free form search field

If the drive was recently powered before the log snapshot has been initiated, than you will see following

2015-12-16T16:06:39.913, 1.1.3.1.2, root, default, internal, 0, trace, 3952, "From device", Data=<request sequence="117" final="true"><command>stateChangeNotice</command><parms><deviceType>driveTray</deviceType><address>1,1,3,1,2</address><seated>true</seated><fanOk>true</fanOk><tempOk>true</tempOk><faultLedOn>false</faultLedOn><drivePowerSupplyOk>true</drivePowerSupplyOk><powerSupply48vOk>true</powerSupply48vOk><fpgaVersion>53</fpgaVersion><lodTraySN>464970G+1524L20398</lodTraySN></parms></request>

This is a indication of a LOD card installed in the drive tray
