Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The goal for this document is to help Customers to create event notifications so that certain individuals can be notified when specific Oracle FS System events occur.

You can display the details of an event and make changes as needed. You can also test notifications to make sure that the specified email addresses are correct.

Solution

You can display the details of an event and make changes as needed. You can also test notifications to make sure that the specified email addresses are correct.

Event notifications are Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) email messages that notify recipients of specified system events. System events include informational events, warning events, and critical events such as the creation of a logical volume or the occurrence of a hardware problem or software problem.

Event notifications are optional and, when enabled, supplement normal event logging and Call‑Home notification. You must designate one or more email recipients to receive event notifications. You must have a configured and functioning email server to send the notifications.

Follow steps below to setup the event notification:

  1. Navigate to System > Alerts and Events > Event Notification.

  2. Select Actions > Create.

    event1

  3. Enter a name for the event notification.

  4. Enter a description for the event notification.

  5. To enable the notification, select Enable Event Notification.

    Step5

  6. Review the list of events.

  7. From the Monitored Events list, select the events that you want to trigger the notification.

  8. To add one or more event notification recipients, click Add. You can add up to 4 recipients maximum.

For example, to be notified of any login failures, in the Events Not Monitored column navigate to the Informational > Audit list. Select Login Failed, and then click the right-facing arrow to move the item to the Monitored Events column.
Tip: To add an entire event type, select the severity or category name and move that event type to the Monitored Events column.
For example, to monitor all Critical events, select Critical and move the event type to the Monitored Events column.

  9. Enter the email address of each notification recipient.

  10. (Optional) Click Test Email to make sure that the alert is sent to the correct email addresses and that the SMTP server is properly configured.
Note: Allow at least 10 minutes between email tests.

  11. (Optional) To remove an email address from the list, select the address and
    click Remove.

  12. Click OK.
