Goal

After applying Exalytics Release 2.0.0.0 on an existing bare metal PatchSet (PS) 5 machine, the exalytics_imageinfo command does not show the same kernel version in all locations.
Specifically:

# /opt/exalytics/bin/exalytics_imageinfo
Image version : 2.0.0.0_el5
Creation timestamp : Fri 29 May 2015 03:16:55 PM EDT
Kernel version : 2.6.39-400.248.3.el5uek                                                 ] --- shows -400.248.3. ---

RPM versions:
kernel-uek-2.6.39-400.248.3.el5uek                                                       ] --- kernel version here matches above version ---
kernel-2.6.32-100.23.1.el5                                                               ] --- shows lower level kernel version ---
exalytics-container-bm-2.0.0.0-2_el5
exalytics-scripts-2.0.0.0-9_el5

Kernel version shows as 2.6.39-400.248.3.el5uek but the 'kernel' listed under the RPM versions shows kernel-2.6.32-100.23.1.el5.

Does this indicate that the patch did not install successfully or is it only partially installed?

The Exalytics Installation guide includes the following information.

Shows expected exalytics_imageinfo results of:

Kernel version : 2.6.39-400.248.3.el5uek

Note: Even though the build numbers may be different than the ones listed above, ensure that the updated kernel version is the same as the one displayed above.

Exalytics Product Management confirmed in <Bug 21665671> - EXALYTICS:UNEXPECTED RPM KERNEL VERSION AFTER REL 2.0.0.0 INSTALL ON PS5 BM that this is fine. As long as the top level kernel version shows "Kernel version : 2.6.39-400.248.3.el5uek", the patch has been fully installed.
