Solution

The StorageTek 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure is an OEM product from IBM.  

By default it will come with a single IBM LTO7 Half Height SAS drive.

- Half Height LTO Ultrium 7 SAS tape drive: The HHLTO7 is read-write compatible with LTO Ultrium 7 and LTO Ultrium 6 data cartridges, and read-only compatible with Ultrium 5 data cartridges. Data transfer rates: up to 300 MB/second (native, no compression)
- The Half Height LTO Ultrium 7 SAS drives are SAS2 devices
- Oracle has tested the Half Height LTO Ultrium 7 SAS drives with the Oracle branded SAS3, SAS2, and SAS1 HBAs

The 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure will support up to 2 IBM LTO7 Half Height SAS drives with the purchase of an upgrade LTO7 drive.  All of the cables are included by default in the unit for 2 drives so a second drive upgrade would include just the drive assembly.

- Drive Bay A is on the left side and Drive Bay B is on the right side when standing at the front of the Rackmount Tape Enclosure.  

- A standard single drive configuration will be shipped with the drive installed in Drive Bay A.

A removable top cover allows access to inside of the 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure to service the drives and cables.

The 1U Rackmount Tape Enclosure contains 2 fans at the rear of the unit that supply the airflow needed to keep the drive/drives cool during operation.
