Solution

Belisarius Card Bypass Procedure

To bypass the Belisarius card on an Oracle IBM LTOx Drive in a SL8500 drive tray you will need to do the following:

- Take the 2 screws off of the top drive tray cover (located at the back of the drive tray).
- Take the 4 screws off that hold the drive brick to the drive tray (2 screws per side).
- Pull the drive brick out just a little so that you can access the TTI connector on the back of the drive brick.
- Once you locate the TTI connector on the back of the drive, disconnect it from the back of the drive.
- This non twisted pair cable is still connected to the Bel card and can just be left hanging loose in the drive tray.
- Locate the twisted pair cable with heat shrink tubing on it that is connected to the HBD card.
- Follow this twisted pair cable to the front of the drive tray and locate where it is plugged into the Belisarius card.
- Once located disconnect the twisted pair cable from the Belisarius card and connect it to the back of the drive brick.

This will now leave the Bel card bypassed and the library will be communicating directly to the drive.
