Goal

SL150 - IBM LTO6 Half Height Support

Solution

The SL150 2.50 code will add support for the IBM LTO6 Half Height tape drives.

- This allows us to offer two different tape drive supplier options in the SL150.
- Initial IBM LTO6 Half Height release code will be E6RF.
- Both SAS2 and 8Gb FC drives are supported.
- OKM encryption will not be supported partly due to space constraints in the drive tray for the Belisarius card. (The drives will support encryption via the application over the data interface)
- The drives do have the “Service” Ethernet port.
- The firmware file for the drives is large so it will take much longer for the IBM LTO drive upgrade from the Web GUI than HP. (approximately 20 minutes per IBM drive).

Note: IBM LTO7 tape drives are also unsupported with OKM encryption in the SL150 tape library.
