Solution 2028697.1 : IB Switch FW Upgrade Status: WARNING

Goal

We upgraded today FW on Exadata IB switches to version: 2.1.5-1. While overall upgrade status was SUCCESS, there were warnings during upgrade process described in MOS Doc ID 2003562.1.
After changing permissions on the files as recommended in Doc ID 2003562.1, the /usr/local/bin/fwverify executed successfully on both switches. However, we can see while logging to switches ILOM console "FW upgrade status WARNING".
Can you please tell us:
1) Was upgrade successful (see attached log)
2) If it was successful, how to clear WARNING status?
3) If it was not successful, what should be done? Would not doing downgrade & then upgrade again lead to the same file permission errors on files of the package tzdata-2012c-1.el5.i386?

Solution

===Infiniband===

As long as fwverify is passing, the upgrade is successful and the next time the firmware is upgraded, this status will change to SUCCESS

At this point there are a few options.

1. You know why the status is WARNING and this has been addressed so you can leave this as it is until the next time the firmware is upgraded with a new release at which time the "post-install" check will correct this Status.
2. You can upgrade the firmware using the same version using the CLI and the "-f" (force) option which will perform the complete upgrade and will perform the post-install and correct this now. This will take about 30 minutes.

NOTE: This type of issue can occur for many reasons, the key is after the switch is upgraded and the failure is reported the only way to clear this state after whatever the issue was was resolved is to re-install the firmware using the -force option.
