Goal

tst-imt command reports issues on IMT bus.
What does the displayed information show and how should an engineer proceed with the information?

Solution

An error report from the command tst-imt usually looks similar to this:

  tst-imt:type=faulttest:bus=a
  Command entered at terminal #13.
;

  XXXstp01 14-04-09 02:01:17 IST EAGLE5 42.0.1-63.38.31
  IMT Fault Isolation Bus A
  Fault Location Probable Cause Failure(s)
  Bus 1107-6113 HIPR2 1109
  HIPR2 6109
  Card 1107
  Card 6113
  Cable connecting Shelves 1100 and 6100 on Bus A
  Backplane 1100
  Backplane 6100
  Connectivity Test Failed
;

This report identifies a problem communicating from slot 1107 to slot 6109. The potential failure points causing this issue are listed in order of probability: Card 1109 is considered more likely to be the cause than cards 6109, which in turn is more likely than card 1107. Card 6113 again has a lower probability, and so on.

Engineers trouble shooting IMT bus failures should investigate the mentioned possible failures points in the order given by the command output.
