SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED: TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS: PROBLEM OVERVIEW: An Oracle Server X5-4 Coin Cell Battery needs replacement WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : 1. Attach an antistatic wrist strap. When servicing or removing server components, attach an antistatic strap to your wrist and then to a metal area on the chassis. 2. Power off the server and disconnect all power cords from the server power supplies. WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?: 1. Extend the server to the maintenance position. 2. Remove the top cover. 3. Remove the Battery. (It may be necessary to remove the pci cards in PCI Slots 1 and 2) 3.1 The Battery is Located just near rear system status indicator panel beside PCI slot 1 3.2 Remove the battery from the battery holder by pulling back on the metal tab holding it in place and sliding the battery up and out of the battery holder. 4. Install the Battery. (Replace any PCI cards that may have been removed making sure all PCI cables are seated properly on the cards) 4.1 Press the new battery into the battery holder with the positive side (+) facing away from the metal tab that holds it in place. 4.2 If the service processor is configured to synchronize with a network time server using the Network Time Protocol (NTP), the ILOM clock will be reset as soon as the server is powered on and connected to the network. Otherwise, proceed to the next step. 4.3 If the service processor is not configured to use NTP, you must reset the ILOM clock using the ILOM CLI or the web interface. 5. Return Server to Operation: 5.1 Install the top cover. 5.2 Return the server to the normal rack position. 5.3 Reconnect all power cords to the server power supplies and power on the server. 5.4 After the battery is replaced, use the BIOS Setup Utility to update the System Time and System Date. WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Restart system and have the System administrator verify functionality of system.
