This document describes the steps to install Oracle MaxRep R3 Agent on Linux Server.

Ensure that you have root privileges to install Oracle FS MaxRep Replication Engine for SAN.

The Oracle MaxRep R3 Agent provides file system and application consistency protection for data that is hosted by the Linux servers. The agents enable Oracle MaxRep for SAN to replicate consistent application data by tagging the data with consistency bookmarks.

The Oracle MaxRep for SAN installation process delivers the agent binaries, but they must then be installed as described below. For additional information, please contact Oracle Support.

Solution

1. Copy the Agent binary to the desired location. For example /var/tmp.
   
   
2. Un-compress the Agent binary file before proceeding with the installation. Use the tar commands below to un-compress the binary.
   
   

   Example:
   
   

   # tar -xvzf <File name>
   
   
   
3. Using your root user and privilege run the script ./install.
   
   
4. The Installer prompts to accept the license agreement. Please press Y to agree to the license terms and conditions.
   
   
5. It then prompts for the location to install the agent. Press the enter key to install under the default location: /usr/local/InMage.
   
   
6. The host agent configuration interface is displayed; enter the Replication Engine IP address and the HTTP port.
   
   
7. The installer prompts to start File Agent. Press enter to start the File Agent.
   
   
8. The Installer will show the successful installation message.
