Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Why is the IPFE not passing fragmented messages on to the MPs

Solution

Following a upgrade to the customer firewall the IPFE stopped sending fragmented packet to the MPs.
Fragmented packets DO NOT contain the SCTP header.

The fragmented packets sent to the IPFE must contain the SCTP header in the fragmented packet.
The SCTP header is required to be sent to the MP as part of the topology hiding characteristics.
The MP uses the Target IP address of the IPFE as the source when messages are sent back to the peer.
