Goal

This document describes the steps to Install Oracle_Agent for MaxRep R3 on Windows Server hosts.

The purpose of the Oracle agent is to quiesce the IOs on the Windows server host when it receives a bookmark request from the MaxRep Engine in order to have a consistent copy of the volumes and database.

Solution

Pre-requisite on the Windows host:

To install Oracle_Agent on Windows on MSCS cluster, MSDTC (Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator) service should be installed first. Please refer to the Microsoft documentation to verify that the service is installed and running and how to install MSDTC if necessary.

Follow the steps below to install Oracle_Agent on Windows Server:

Step 1: Copy the Oracle_Agent installer to the desired location.
Step 2: Run the agent installer as Administrator. The installation wizard appears. Click Next to proceed further.

Step 3: The installer prompts for license agreement. Choose the "I accept the Agreement" radio button and click Next.

Step 4: The Installer prompts the default path for Agent installation. You can change the default path through Browse. Click Next.

Step 5: Click Install to proceed with installation or click Back to go back and edit path.

Step 6: The Host FX Agent Config appears. Enter the Replication Engine IP address and its HTTP port number

Step 7: Click Log On. Select This Account. Enter the Login Name and Password. Click OK.

Step 8: The Installation Completion wizard appears and Click Finish to complete installation process.
