Goal
XSCF on SPARC Enterprise M3000/M4000/M5000/M8000/M9000 Servers maintains a series of logs that allows to check platform status, HW related events and FMA logs. Please find an example below:
Example:
XSCF> fmdump -e

Is it possible to remove old XSCF logs?
Solution
Answer is no.
Clearing old logs registered in the XSCF (for example, "showlogs monitor" or "showlogs error" commands output as displayed above) is not supported at Customer level, as XSCF command shell does not allow to do it.
This is intended by design as the XSCF events history provides valuable information in troubleshooting and should not be removed.
In some particular circumstances Oracle Support Services may need to access Oracle Internal-only shell on XSCF and clear/rotate some logs; however this is intended for specific troubleshooting needs and is not to be provided as general purpose activity.
Please note that XSCF's restoredefaults command will reset XSCFU or the entire platform to factory settings; this will have the side effect of clearing all event and error history. However, platform and domain configuration will be erased, and system will need to be re-configured from scratch; as a consequence, restoredefaults command usage is strongly discouraged if the aim is to have only the logs zeroed out.
Internal only section
XSCF service mode will allow to rotate FMA logs on XSCF, as fmadm command run in service mode includes the following options:
fmadm [-q] config - display fault manager configuration
fmadm [-q] faulty [-a] [-i] - display list of faulty resources
fmadm [-q] flush [fmri] - flush cached state for resource
fmadm [-q] repair [fmri|uuid] - notify fault manager that resource has been repaired
fmadm [-q] reset [-s serd] module - reset module or sub-component
fmadm [-q] rotate [errorlog|fltlog] - rotate log file
Please check the example below:
XSCF> fmdump -e
