Goal

To disable SNMP traps sent by the SL3000/SL8500 Tape Libraries.

Solution

Log into the SL series tape library via SSH with an application like PuTTY.

Using the same Admin logon that you would use with SLConsole type in "help" at the command prompt.

Among the commands that should appear, look for "snmp".

Type in snmp disable port2B or port2A depending on which port is used for host communication. Normally port 2B is the primary host with 2A being an optional connectivity if you have the license for it.

Below is a list of snmp commands via the Command Line Interface

SNMP Commands

After you disable the snmp on the host connected port do a "snmp ports print" to verify the snmp setting for that port.
