Minimum code version: SL8500 Library firmware version 8.31 with SLConsole version 6.25 SL3000 Library firmware version 4.00 with SLConsole version 6.00 GoalAdding the tray serial numbers to SLConsole enables the customer to open a SR against the drive instead of the library SolutionBring up a remote session of SLConsole. Under the Tools menu select Configuration. When the configuration screen comes up you have 2 tabs to select from. Select the Drive Tray S/N tab. The screen will most likely show "unknown" for the current settings under the Drive Tray S/N column. Put your cursor on the first column and you can update the drive tray serial number to match the corresponding tray serial number you've copied from the back of the library. Click Enter after you've updated the contents of the Drive Tray S/N column. Click on the Apply button on the top right after you've completed your updates. Click on Yes in the corresponding pop up to save the changes to the Drive Tray Serial numbers screen. Note from customer: "I have found it quicker and easier if you export file first from the SLC to your desktop. Bring up the C:\SL8500-DriveInfo-v4-50. Copy from C:\SL8500-DriveInfo-v4-50 file to the .csv file and paste the drive tray entitlement S/N for each H/W address and save. Export back to the SLC and apply." This first image shows the "unknown" under the Drive Tray S/N. This second image shows numbers added to the Drive Tray S/N.
Complete the rest of the columns for all the drive tray serial numbers that are installed in the Library. Now you have access to the drive tray serial numbers should you need to open an SR for a specific drive problem. Note: Refer to the attachments to see where the Tray Serial Number is actually located. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
