Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

 Actions that will cause the partition to change in a SL8500 or SL3000 Tape Library when using SL Console.

Solution

Questions and Answers

Any addition or removal of a cell (with the SL3000 the user can select a specific cell, column, side or module)  or drive from a partition will be considered a partition change although the action will not be completed until the commit button is pressed.

Changing the connection type of a partition ( FC-SCSI or HLI ) is considered a partition change although the action will not be completed until the commit button is pressed.

Adding or removing a CEM (Cartridge Expansion Module), DEM (Drive Expansion Module) or AEM (Access Expansion Module) is considered a partition change.

Additional Partitioning information is available in the SLConsole application by clicking on Help and contents.

If you do not apply your changes, you will see the following pop up message on SLConsole asking the following question.

Partition Warning

If the commit button is not pressed the changes to the partition will not be saved.
