DSR 5.0 Upgrade dual MP leaders were identified.

It is expected to see this multiple MP leader alarm intermittently during periods of disruption like an upgrade. However, it would also be expected that the alarm would clear within minutes of occurring. When a new MP comes into service, it may declare itself to be a "leader of one" before it discovers that there are neighbors present. When it sees the neighbors, it will hold an election with the neighbors to decide which will hold the leader role and which leader should step down. If the alarms were intermittent, then this would be "normal", indicating that the new MPs were waking up and then taking a few minutes to determine whether to lead a new group or follow the existing one.

Goal

Multiple MP leader were observed

Solution

The majority of the alarms indicated inter DA-MP replication failed between the upgraded MPs (1-8) and the non-upgraded MPs. After initiating upgrade for the second set of MPs, the issue auto resolved and only one MP held MP leader role.
