A previous XSCF console session to a Solaris domain got disconnected while others users connected.
Then when an attempt to log back into the console, the XSCF output says "console already used by other user".

Goal

How to get a writable console on the XSCF?

Solution

Example situation:

XSCF> console -d 0

Console contents may be logged.
Connect to DomainID 0?[y|n] :y
console already used by other user.

In this situation, in order to obtain write access, start a new console session using the -f option. For example,

XSCF> console -d domain_id -f

This will forcibly connect to a writable console session and the currently connected writable console will be disconnected (which can be left over after the previous unexpected outage or network disconection).

For more information on console operations please refer to Sun Enterprise M3000/M4000/M5000/M8000/M9000 Administrative Guide at: docs.oracle.com/cd/E19580-01/E21618/E21618.pdf

Note: Only users with platadm or domainadm privilege can specify this option.
