Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This document applies to ALL Engineered systems that include Cisco Catalyst 4948 or 4948E-F ethernet switches.

Replacing the power supply as it shows to be bad/off in "show environment" output.

( here as an example of Cisco switch 'C4948E-F'. The switch C4948 has a similar output )

Solution

Replacing the bad power supply.

The power supplies are hot swappable.
Cisco 4948 switch has a switch button on each power supply for power on/off individually.
So no need to power off whole Cisco switch during power supply  replacement. 

Here is details for power supply replacement on Cisco 4948 switch:

1. power switch off on the power supply you'd like to replace 
2. power cord eject
3. replace the power supply
4. power code insert 
5. power switch on
