Big Data Appliance X4-2 Hardware - Version All Versions and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

If our Oracle Big Data Appliance rack has enhanced PDU, we have to also set the following two parameters (in volts) for each phase of the input (Refer to https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19844-01/html/E23956/z40003081403496.html )

  • Warning – the minimal nominal operating voltage.
  • Alarm – the minimal allowable operating voltage.

What values (in Volts) should we set as the Warning and Alarm threshold parameter in fact ?

Solution

The Warning and Alarm threshold values (in Volts) which you should set depends on the PDU type in the Rack and datacenter voltage.

Select your PDU in the following table, then set the Warning and Alarm threshold.

Type and Datacenter voltage  Warning Threshold Alarm Threshold

Single Phase, Low-Voltage,

Datacenter L-L Voltage = 200V

190V 180V

Single Phase, Low-Voltage,

Datacenter L-L Voltage = 208-240V

200V 180V

Three Phase, Low-Voltage,

Datacenter L-N Voltage = 100V

95V

90V

Three Phase Low-Voltage

Datacente L-N Voltage = 110-127V

100V 90V

Single or Three Phase, High-Voltage

Datacenter L-N Voltage = 220V

210V 180V

Single Phase or Three Phase, High-Voltage

Datacenter L-N Voltage = 230-240V

220V 180V

Note: Oracle Enhanced PDUs measure the correct voltage when connected to a wye TN power system.
Using any other power system type (such as IT or TT power system) might lead to incorrect voltage measurements.
Therefore, you should set the Warning Threshold and Alarm Threshold values above only when connected to a wye TN power system.

Note: For the other thresholds, refer to "Monitoring the PDU Current" in Oracle Big Data Appliance Owner's Guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E55905_01/doc.40/e55796/maintenance.htm#BIGOG232 .
