Goal

How to enable PCAP export feature ?

Solution

Important notes:

  • For IMF: in STC mode or chunk extracted (no IP raw), no PCAP export is possible. Only IMF in FastCopy mode will support PCAP export.
  • PDUs from Falco SS7 converter are in Sigtran format although the original PDUs are not Sigtran but rather TDM SS7. In that case, Sigtran encapsulation has no meaning. However, these PDUs will also be exported in PCAP format.
  • Parameter will be displayed only to TklcSrv NSP user

Procedure

PCAP export must be enabled in "IP Transport" layer of IxpBuild dataflow processing (DFP). It is disabled by default.

Protocols supported by release

9.0.3 and 9.0.4

For PIC 9.0.3 and PIC 9.0.4, PCAP export is available on Sigtran traffic only, and when traffic is forwarded as Sigtran to IXP. In case such traffic is forwarded to IXP by using "SS7" PDU Data Flows and not IP Data Flows, it will be considered as SS7. This configuration prevents PCAP exports.

PIC 10.1 onward

PCAP export extended to Diameter SCTP and to protocols over TCP/UDP (SIP-I, BICC and all diameter builders).
