Goal

How to test Infiniband SDP (sockets direct protocol)  throughput?

Solution

Use qperf during off peak times.

1)start qperf server

edx42bur09db01# qperf

2) start qperf from the client side and use the IP of the server that is running qperf listener. edx42bur09db01 uses 192.168.9.202 for IB bond

edx42bur09cel02# qperf -m 1000000 192.168.9.202  sdp_bw
sdp_bw:
    bw  =  2.50 GB/sec  <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Unidirectional so about 5G Bytes/SEC  in this case

Speeds can vary depending on how busy the Node CPU and IB fabric at the time of the testing. Test above was run on an idle fabric and nodes.

see qperf --help for more information and other test examples
