Goal

How to reset/clear amber Service Led light on System controller, where there is no fault on the System Controller?

Solution

To clear the Service LED on SC1 Main Board

- schedule platform down time for ~2hrs
- note that platform down time not required unless with single SC configuration, but always good practice
- make SC0 as main SC via failover if SC1 is main SC
- connect a console serial port to SC1
- verify SC1 diag-level=pmax-epvmax, while SC0 is set to pmax-epmax.

From SC1 obp

ok setenv diag-level pmax-epvmax
ok setenv diag-switch? true
ok setenv post-on-sir? true
ok reset

From SC1 obp verify the obp diag-level is set to pmax-epmax

ok printenv diag-level
diag-level pmax-epmax

From SC1 obp verify the obp diag-level is set to pmax-epmax

# eeprom diag-level=pmax-epvmax
# eeprom diag-switch?=true
# eeprom post-on-sir?=true
# reboot

- power cycle the SC1
- capture the SC1 diag post log

- verify that the I2C pass post with the following output

SUBTEST: I2C EEPROM Test PASSED
SUBTEST: I2C Local SC LED Test
SUBTEST: I2C Local SC LED Test PASSED
SUBTEST: I2C Local SC Nordica LED Test
SUBTEST: I2C Local SC Nordica LED Test PASSED
SUBTEST: I2C Local SC cPCI Option Slot LED Test
SUBTEST: I2C Local SC cPCI Option Slot LED Test PASSED
SUBTEST: I2C Local SC A2D 0 Test

- upon SC1 passed SCPOST the LED on the main board should be turn off when the SC1 ready
- if SC1 service LED permanently amber in this case the SC1 MB may need to replace
- We can verify the LED by pull out the SC main board and re-insert via a re-seating, pls make sure that the power is off
- and verify no fault during max SCPOST

The same steps can be applied to SC0 in case of the amber Service Led light on System controller is lit on that one
