This document explains how to initiate and connect to a shared shell session
Solution
Oracle Shared Shell is a collaborative service tool that allows you to retain participant access and control while Oracle support services engineers remotely view and diagnose Sun systems. This Java-based application provides secure, remote access to a terminal session that is shared simultaneously by customers and support services engineers. You control who participates and who has access to the remote session. Please note that shared shell only gives access to ILOM CLI from your laptop/computer, pointing to the service processor IP address.
Initiate and connect to a shared shell session:
1.- Go to Oracle Shared Shell Web Page
2.- Press the "Launch Oracle Shared Shell" link at the bottom of the page. A java-based window will appear.
3.- On the left side of the screen, enter your SSO credentials (those are the same you use to access our ISP/MOS portal).
4.- select option 1: "Initiate a session & connect to target system"
5.- Use SSH or Telnet as protocol (that will depend on which option you prefer) and enter the ILOM username, and hostname or IP address you will connect to.
6.- Press start button.
7.- enter the ILOM password.
8.- once you enter ILOM CLI, you can go to: conference -> Invite. This will give you a 6-digit invitation key that you have to give to the person you want to have access to ILOM CLI.
9.- After the person receives the key, he will connect to the session. When the username appears in the waiting to join box, click the allow button.
10.- In order to grant full access to other people, you can either go to the box on the low right part of the screen, right-click on the person you want to grant full access and press the "set full access" option, or you can grant full access to the person when they request it.
